All of our instructors are also moms! We have a great team of instructors who LOVE what they do. We are here to help you at your personal best.
Denise Cranmore – I am a proud military wife and mother to Camden and Caylee. When I joined Stroller Strides I fell in love with the program. I would come home after my workouts and feel great, proud that slowly I was beginning to feel like me again and happy that my daughter loved it too. It allowed me to get a great workout and meet a great group of moms. Having no family nearby and a husband who traveled, I needed to find something and I found so much more then I expected. You can find me at Red Wing, the Boardwalk, City View and Mount Trashmore. I love to teach all locations when I have a chance!
Devon Dorsey- Mother to Piper. Being a mom is tough especially when you don’t have a strong support system. I joined Stroller Strides in September 2010 when I realized that no matter how hard I tried; my pre-baby life was never going to fit into my new post-baby reality. Stroller Strides quickly became my life line in so many ways – making friends, watching my daughter develop socially and celebrating new found strength and confidence are just a few of the benefits I have enjoyed from being a member of this wonderful group of women. You will often hear me say things like I love Stroller Strides for making me strong or thank you Stroller Strides for bringing such great friends into my life! Thanks to the incredible workouts, encouragement and strong friendships I have formed, I am stronger than I have ever been and in the best shape of my life. I am so excited to be helping other moms reach their own personal fitness goals, so come on out see me – you can find me mostly at Chesapeake City Park.
Megan Withers- Mother to Emma and Brielle. I joined Stroller Strides in August of 2008 because I wanted a way to combine strength training, cardio, and Emma all into one workout. I was hooked that very first day and have made Stroller Strides a priority ever since. I love Stroller Strides because it’s a great workout, it’s setting an example for my child, it’s making great friends for both of us, it’s mom’s night out, it’s playgroups, and so much more! I have been teaching since June and can honestly say that becoming an instructor is one of my top 5 greatest achievements. I truly love what I do and the amazing women that I do it with. You can find me teaching at Chesapeake City Park, City View and Mt. Trashmore
Jenn Sloggie-Pierce - Mother to Aren and Roan. I loved that Stroller Strides motivated me to do more than just go for a run, and I have come to value the interaction with other moms and kids so much more than I ever imagined possible. Stroller Strides has gotten me in the best shape of my life, and I honestly don’t know how I would have coped with the surprises and trials of motherhood without it. It definitely keeps me sane! I became an instructor in May 2008, and you can find me teaching classes at Bayville Farms Park on Mondays and Mount Trashmore on Wednesdays and Fridays. You’ll see me taking classes at most of the other parks and attending MNOs whenever my schedule allows me to.
Jenn Strach- Mother to Maya and Piper. There are so many things that I love about the program. I love that I am able to workout and keep my children with me. I love that it is such a good example for them to demonstrate the importance of fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. I also love all of the friends that my daughters and I have made. It really helped us make a smooth transition from Arlington to Virginia Beach.
Jess Glenn- I am a Navy wife and mother to Bella and Josie. I joined Stroller Strides right after my 1st daughter Bella was just a couple months old. Being a younger mom, I didn't know any other Moms and was ready to start working out. It was a perfect combination. And it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made as a new mother! I could workout, meet Mommies and have Bella with me all at the same time! After about a year of taking classes, I decided that I wanted to become an instructor and started teaching right away. I taught in Southern California before the birth of my daughter, Josie and just recently relocated out here to the East Coast. I'm ecstatic about joining the VA Beach Stroller Strides community!
Katie Hutchins- I had been at least somewhat overweight since childhood. When I got married, gaining a 6-year-old son as well as a husband, in June of 2004, I was wearing size 20 jeans, and weighed nearly 250 pounds (I don't know for sure exactly how much I weighed, since it was easier to just not think about it without stepping on the scale). I lost some weight in the first few years of marriage and motherhood, though not through any concentrated efforts.
During my pregnancy with our second son, my weight went back up to 240 pounds, and my blood pressure was frighteningly high. A few months after pregnancy, I was concerned that my blood pressure had not returned to its normal pre-pregnancy levels, and our family doctor advised that I lose weight. I did not immediately take his advice, but I started attending Stroller Strides classes at the beginning of 2009. While I saw that I was getting stronger, I was not losing weight.
In January of 2010, I came to the realization that my exercise efforts needed to be combined with healthy eating habits. As soon as I really started concentrating on giving my exercise 100% and being accountable for the food I was putting into my body, the weight started dropping off! From January of 2010 to January of 2011, I lost nearly 70 pounds. I went from being an unathletic couch potato, to running races: first a 5K, then 8K, a half-marathon, and finally a full marathon, 26.2 miles, in March of 2011! Now I am excited to "pay it forward" to other moms like myself, as a Body Back instructor; if I can make these lifestyle changes, so can you!
