Stroller Strides Memorial is owned and taught by Valerie Gay, a certified fitness instructor and mom of three (ages 7, 4, & 2). Moms of all fitness levels are welcome!
Stroller Strides FAQ's:
What is Stroller Strides?
Stroller Strides is a total fitness program that moms can do with their children. It includes power walking and intervals of body toning and strength training using exercise tubing. It is a great workout for all levels of fitness...including pregnancy!
How do I get started?
To sign up for your free class (your first class is always free), click on the "more info" button on the class schedule box on the Stroller Strides Memorial home page. Then, fill out the FREE CLASS SIGN UP FORM to register. You will receive an email confirming your registration and welcoming you to Stroller Strides. All there is left to do is to go to class!
What do I need to bring?
- stroller (no umbrella strollers please), jogging strollers are not required
- water
- sun block
- towel, mat, or blanket (outdoor blankets are the best option)
- bug repellent and/or mosquito net
- hat or visor (optional but recommended)
Exercise tubing will be given out during class time.
How much does it cost?
We have varying packages to accomodate everyone's time and budget. Click on the "more info" button on the class schedule to view class membership options.
What if my child gets fussy?
No problem! We are all moms and understand that all children have their good days and bad! If you have a fussy child, just stop and comfort them. We stick to a main route so you can always catch up!
What are the workouts like?
We start with a brief (about 5 minutes) warm up. We spend roughly 45 minutes doing a mix of power walking (or jogging if you are a jogger), cardio, and strength training at 3-4 stations. We close with 10 minutes of abs and stretching.
What if I can't keep up?
YOU CAN! Stroller Strides is designed to accomodate all fitness levels. It is not a bootcamp style fitness program. All exercises can be modified for your fitness level!
How old does my child have to be?
Infants are required to be at least 6 weeks of age to attend class. There is currently no max age restriction for children for Stroller Strides Memorial so all children are welcome! Please note that the trails that we use at Memorial Park do not allow bikes, skateboards, or scooter so older children will have to either walk along side their mom or sit in a stroller. All children must stay with the group for the entire class until class time is over.
Inclement Weather Policy
In Houston we have a lot of sunshine and often times a lot of rain! Outlined below is what to do for various inclement weather.

Rain - Houston gets a lot of rain and rain here can be pretty diverse. Please read what to do for each rain situation:
Drizzle - Class will continue at Memorial Park at the scheduled time.
Please be sure to bring a rain cover for your stroller.

(meet near the ice skating rink)
Thunderstorms/Hail/Sleet/Flooding - Class will be cancelled.
